I presented my first public performance in May 1988. I was invited by the German artists Karin Meiner and Manfred Hammes (died 2006) to do a performance at a small music and art festival near my hometown Andernach. I put a big white canvas on the ground, threw hundreds of eggs on it, poured glue and red pigments onto the eggs, mixed it with a broom and brushed the white canvas red. Next, I held the red canvas around my shoulders like a cloak, placed a crown on my head and left the place slowly.
My interest in this kind of art started some years earlier and I did some actions without audience and at this time without knowing that I was creating an action. In 1986 I covered my drum set with canvas, replaced the drum sticks with brushes with paint and start drumming.
In 1987 I drew 1000 portraits in a row and set fire to them after I had finished.
