A primary function of art is to bridge our spiritual and physical worlds. Through crass materialism we have reduced art to cultural real estate. Actual creativity can be neither bought nor sold, though its husks, shells and skins often are. It is possible in art to use meta systems without over-reliance on physical residue and attendant marketplace hustling, jockeying and squabblings. Art is the demonstrated wish and will to resolve conflict through action, be it spiritual, religious, political, personal, social or cultural. To heal is to make whole.

Emergence of the New Paradigm Viractuality

This paper will investigate the idea of the emergence of the viractual era, which I maintain is already upon us. First, I will formulate an argument for what the viractual is and what viractualism is about.

Jason Lim: Duet and Still/Life in Poland

On 27 May 2011, Jason Lim's solo exhibition Duet with Still/Life, curated by Paulina Kempisty, opened at Galeria Labirynt in Lublin, Poland, where it ran until 12 June. In the quaint gallery space of a 400-year-old building in the heart of Lublin’s old town, Lim's dual artistic practice, sculpture and performance art, combined harmoniously. The exhibition presented a documentation of selected enactments of Duet, a previous performance, and a reincarnation of Still/Life, a sculptural installation of performative origin.

In general, Visual Performance (Performance Art) for me is a liberating form more than any other art platform that I've come across with. It has given me fairly new freedom to explore and investigate. It is change among other things that tends to move outward from itself leading to many directions. It's a whole new journey. A re-entry. In a different sort of way. Contained in the same sphere but of different category, of a different level than what has been a formula. Revolving in the same axis but with fresh new approach. A whole lot of new approach.
